This achievement is a proud moment for the business, which started operations just one year ago with 21 farmer clusters in the Ra Province. This successful export shows the strong market potential for Fijian produce when local farming is backed by strategic partnerships and a focus on quality.
The journey began with the commercial planting cowpeas and black-eyed peas. To support this growth, New Valley Processors (Fiji) Pte Ltd worked closely with several partners. Mr. Tuivuniwai expressed his deep appreciation to the Government of India for providing cowpea seeds, a partnership that has directly boosted Fiji’s agriculture and helped strengthen food security. The company also received vital support from the Fijian Government through the Prime Minister’s Office and from Investment Fiji.
The future looks bright for the company and the local communities it supports. With a market opportunity to export up to 10 tons of cowpeas per week, the team is already receiving interest from buyers in New Zealand, North America, and Canada. To meet this demand, they are expanding their fields from 150 acres to 200 acres by the end of the year. They also plan to start a large-scale pineapple farming project covering 400 acres.
Looking ahead, the company aims to move beyond fresh and frozen produce into value addition. By creating products with a longer shelf life, they can secure premium pricing and compete even more effectively on the global stage.
