Newly incorporated forestry businesses established in designated regions can operate with 0% Corporate Income Tax. This is particularly advantageous for long-term timber investments.

Qualifying Strategic Zones

  • The Northern Division: Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Rabi, and Kioa.
  • The Maritime Zones: Rotuma, Kadavu, Lomaiviti, and the Lau Group.
  • The Western Corridor: Nausori-Lautoka region (from Nausori Airport side of Rewa River to the Ba side of the Matawalu River).

  • Total Tax Exemption: Income derived by businesses engaged in Carbon Trading activities is fully exempt from income tax.
  • Sustainability Alignment: This incentive supports projects focused on reforestation, afforestation, and forest conservation that generate carbon credits.

Fiji rewards high-value wood exports, such as processed timber, furniture, and niche forest products.

  • 90% Export Income Deduction: Forestry exporters qualify for a 90% deduction on export earnings (available through 31 December 2025).
  • Customs & Setup Support: Enjoy 0% Fiscal Duty and 0% Import Excise on:
    • Specialized machinery and equipment for harvesting and processing.
    • Raw materials required for the initial establishment of the facility.
    • Necessary parts and construction materials.

Note: As of August 2025, the standard VAT rate is 12.5% and remains applicable on imported goods.
